SYNOD

The broadest assembly of the churches

The churches meet as a synod at least once every three years to decide matters they hold in common. Agendas, Acts of Synod and decisions are published here.

SYNOD [CITY] [YEAR]

Each Consistory delegates two of its members. Matters for synod begin with a Consistory and come first to classis, so that only what could not be settled in the narrower assemblies, or what the churches hold in common, is brought to synod.

Under the Word, for the churches

Matters originate with a Consistory and pass through classis before coming to synod.

Article 29

Settled and binding

Decisions are received with respect and submission unless proved in conflict with the Word of God or the Church Order.
